Dr. Iris Basilio is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 2002.After graduation from Pediatric Residency at the University of South Carolina/Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, S.C. she joined her mentor and mother, Dr. Florida Basilio. One of her greatest accomplishments is the opening of Uptown Pediatrics in October 2010.
She has been a Columbus native since 1981. She is a graduate from Hardaway High School. She earned her BS Degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University graduating Magna Cum Laude. She attended Mercer University in Macon, GA receiving her Medical Degree in 1999.
Her other accomplishments include Chief Resident in 2002. She is the recipient of the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Young Physician Award in 2009. She currently serves as District X representative for the Georgia Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics.
She has served on multiple committees and is a former Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at affiliated hospitals, Columbus Regional Medical Center and Doctors Hospital. She is active in the community and supports efforts that improve the care of children. As a business owner, she is a member of a local chapter of BNI, Business Network International.
